Charging stations can temporarily go offline during a restart, such as during a firmware update. Additionally, a station will appear offline if its power supply or internet connection has been interrupted.
Charging at Offline Stations
As long as the station remains powered, charging is still possible in offline mode. However, in this mode, ChargePilot does not receive data and assumes the charging session is continuing. As a result, the charging capacity remains reserved within the circuit limits and is not available for other online stations.
If a fallback is activated, the fallback value (e.g., 6 A per phase) is deducted from the circuit limit during the offline phase. Without a fallback, the station’s maximum capacity (e.g., 32 A per phase) is deducted.
You can check in the settings if your station supports fallback and what value is configured.
Offline Station Is Malfunctioning
If a technical issue prevents charging at the offline station, the fallback value will still be deducted if activated, to protect the circuit limit. ChargePilot always assumes offline stations are capable of charging. If no fallback is activated, you can set the station’s maximum capacity to 0 A. This tells ChargePilot that no charging is taking place at this station. This setting is available in the station settings.
Important: Changing the capacity to 0 A is at your own risk. Ensure that no charging is actually occurring at the station before applying this setting.
Steps to Bring the Station Back Online
- Check the station’s power connection.
- Verify the power connection of the network switch.
- Inspect the cable between the station and the network switch.
- Restart the station via the circuit breaker.
