How Do I Retrieve Logs from a Charging Station?

Modified on Wed, 8 Jan at 9:57 AM

If a charging station experiences an issue, you can retrieve its logs through the ChargePilot dashboard. This feature is especially useful for communicating with the manufacturer or handling warranty claims.

Requirements for Retrieving Logs

  • Your charging station must support the required OCPP message (GetDiagnostics).
  • The charging station must be online and available.

Note: Many charging stations do not accept OCPP log requests during an active charging session.

Steps to Retrieve Logs

  1. Go to the Location Settings in the ChargePilot dashboard and select the location where you want to retrieve logs.
  2. In the location details, click on the charging station you want to investigate.
  3. Open the Charging Station Logs tab.
  4. If your charging station supports log retrieval, you will see a blue button labeled Request Logs. Click this button to initiate the log retrieval.

Once the logs are generated, they will appear in the table and can be downloaded.

Note: The time required to generate and provide the logs depends on the size of the log file and the speed of your local internet connection.
