How Do I Add IDs for Charging Access?

Important Notes

  •  The ChargePilot Controller requires an internet connection for new IDs to work.
  •  If an external billing system is used (e.g. Monta), IDs must be created there – not in ChargePilot.

New design including new features since April 2026

Add a Single RFID

  1. Open User Access → IDs in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click “Manage IDs” in the top right.
  3. Select “Update IDs manually”.
  4. Enter the ID number.
    • The ID is a unique identifier. It is stored on a card chip or assigned to a vehicle. When scanned at a charging station, it identifies the vehicle or card.
  5. Enter a name for the RFID (e.g. license plate or driver name).
  6. Choose whether the ID should be assigned to a site or an account.
  7. If an ID is set as an account ID, it will automatically be assigned to all existing and future sites.
  8. Up to 10 IDs can be created in one step. Click “+ Add ID” for this.
  9. Click “Save” to confirm.

Add Multiple RFIDs at Once (CSV Upload)

  1. Open User Access → IDs in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click “Manage IDs” in the top right.
  3. Select “Update IDs via file”.
  4. Optionally download a sample file.
  5. Enter IDs into the file (up to 1,000 per file).
    • Additional information can also be uploaded.
  6. Upload the file.
  7. Choose whether the IDs should be assigned to a site or an account.
  8. If an ID is set as an account ID, it will automatically be assigned to all existing and future sites.
  9. Click “Save” to confirm.

Tips:
1. If many cards need to be created at once, CSV upload is significantly faster.
2. To update existing cards, first download them as an XLSX file, export it as a CSV file, and upload it again as needed.

Optional: Add Schedules for Schedule-Based Load Management

  1. Open User Access → IDs in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click “Manage IDs” in the top right.
  3. Select “Add schedules”.
  4. Select one or more IDs for which schedules should be created.
    • Schedules apply to all sites linked to the selected IDs, but are only enforced where schedule-based load management is active.
  5. Add schedule details: departure days, SoC on arrival, target SoC, and departure time.
    • For AC charging sessions, the target energy is derived from the battery size and the SoC difference (e.g. 20–80% of 100 kWh → 60 kWh).
  6. Multiple schedules can be created per RFID.

Download RFIDs

All RFIDs can also be downloaded as an XLSX file.

The download includes all RFIDs available at the selected sites.
